All Further Maths group tuition classes are run by qualified, experienced, accredited, specialist teachers, who have expert knowledge of the subject matter, common misconceptions and SAC and exam emphases on each concept. As a teacher of Further Maths, I had so many great ideas for teaching different concepts, revision techniques and exam preparation. However, many of these ideas could never be put into practice due to time constraints. Class time was spent teaching and learning new concepts and skills. I never really had time to explain concepts in as much detail as possible and give students opportunities to develop in depth understandings, let alone run focused lessons on misconceptions, revision techniques and exam strategies. I can only imagine the outcome of an additional hour weekly with each of my classes, let alone having classes so small!. Private home tuition, exam preparation or both? To maximize potential and results, I recommend one session of group tutoring and one session of private tutoring for VCE students. However, individual suitability and preference may vary. Exam Preparation and Study Skills- Group Tutoring Sessions I recommend group sessions for students who are keeping pace with the course work and achieving satisfactory results. However, you feel that they have the potential to improve their results through an additional, more rigorous program. Maths group Tuition classes in Melbourne target a range of general concepts, misconceptions and techniques. Students are already proficient in the fundamental skills, but are aiming to deepen their understanding and learn the application of these skills within assessments. I find that these general ideas are more effectively targeted through group sessions, as students have the opportunity to gain insight from each others questions and explanations. The formal structure allows students to spend the whole session working on the target concept, technique or idea in depth. As there is not a tutor watching every move they make, students have more of an opportunity to make and correct their own mistakes, as well as work through questions independently, discovering their preferred technique. They also learn to develop their repertoire of strategies and problem solving skills. With a private tutor, mistakes are likely to be corrected as soon as they are made, giving students unrealistic confidence in their ability. However, assistance is still readily available due to very small class sizes. |
